We are monitoring the social networks and are hearing lots of balloon reports on Twitter. We know that some are real, some are misinformation. Some of the locations we think are most likely:
Portland, OR (Waterfront Park)
Portland, Maine
Irvine, CA (Irvine Spectrum)
Louisville, KY (near Dixie Highway)
Other possibilities:
Dimmick Park (State?)
Oakland Cemetary (State?)
Brunswick, CT
If you want to help us confirm any of these sightings, please email darpa@groundspeak.com.
P.S. Are you having fun yet?
There is a Dimmick Park in Northern California..

This whole contest is so awesome! Although I recognize the location where they DARPA photo page shows the balloons on in a field (it's behind my dentist's office, actually), I was disappointed not to see a single balloon poking out in the snow around these parts. Good luck finding them!
ReplyDeleteIf any reports surface about Colorado, specifically Colorado Springs, I will be happy to run and cofirm. TreshaSECA on geocaching.com, smccormick on twitter.

ReplyDeleteDon't know if you've had anyone checking the Las Vegas, Nevada area, but the missus and I are going to take a spin around the beltway and see if we can see anything. Will report back shortly.
ReplyDeleteMy gut hunch is these things are probably in areas with one kind of military base or another in the area, and we do have Nellis Air Force base out here...
Too bad we can't post the confirmed 4 so we call off looking for people to get out there to confirm.
ReplyDeleteOakland Cemetary is most likely the historic, 6-acre, cemetary in Atlanta, GA.

ReplyDeleteThe balloon reported in Lousville, KY near Dixie highway is not the real one. There are three different ones, none of which is a Darpa one.
